Sr. Project Engineer - 12/22/08 -  Washington - Responsible for managing a $70 million Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) design-build highway interchange project in an urban environment and delivering it in a way that meets quality, cost, and schedule targets. Ensure that construction is completed in accordance with WSDOT directives, professional standards, and contractual requirements. Ensure that project is delivered in a way that minimizes impacts to traffic and the environment. Ensure that the project is constructed safely and that it avoids risk to the public, Contractor, and WSDOT staff. Manage the change order process so that change issues are identified, are expeditiously and fairly negotiated, and that the construction contract is amended accordingly and kept current. Oversee the monthly payment authorization process relevant to consultants, contractors, and vendors assigned to the project. Make recommendations and decisions associated with the technical aspects of the project, as well as decisions affecting workforce planning, project scheduling and budgets. Provide professional oversight and certification of all technical documents prepared by the engineering staff. Support the WSDOT Project Engineer in that individual's role as the WSDOT project representative and principle contact on all matters pertaining to the project. Professional registration as an engineer in the branch of civil engineering in the State of Washington or another state based on requirements equivalent to those in Washington. A Washington State license must be attained within six months of being assigned to this position. Have an extensive background in transportation engineering and project management. Possess knowledge of civil engineering principles relating to roadway geometrics, hydraulics, traffic engineering and safety, soils, retaining walls and bridges, electrical illumination, environmental engineering and construction practices. Have detailed knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations. Have the ability to effectively communicate and interact with diverse project stakeholders in a professional manner, both verbally and in writing, and facilitate collaboration between cross-functional groups.
